Project Schedule

Welcome to the US 27 project web site. The Florida Department of Transportation, District One, in coordination with the Polk County Transportation Planning Organization, looks forward to transforming and improving US 27 along the project limits.

A Public Hearing was held on January 8, 2008. Click here for more information.

The Public Information Workshop was held on June 26, 2007. Click here for more information.

The project will consist of performing a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) study along US 27 from north of I-4 to US 192. This evaluation is necessary due to the ongoing urbanization and growth in this area, which requires action to improve and maintain safe and efficient transportation measures.

This study is necessary to determine all feasible alternatives for adding lanes, adding paved shoulders, replacing a substandard bridge and straightening non-standard curve geometry. Additional safety improvements including sight distance corrections and guard rail options will also be studied.

Through this web site, you will be able to access project details and updates; public meeting dates, agendas and transcripts; press releases and media involvement; and contact information for project and public involvement representatives.
